Water and Sewerage Charges

Residential tenants can only be charged for separately metered water (calculated as a fee per unit of water consumed).

Any fixed charges (eg sewerage service charges, fixed water charges, other charges based on the value of the property) are the responsibility of the landlord.

The Tasmanian Government recently announced that residential tenants will not be billed directly for water and sewerage after 1 July 2012, continuing the present billing system.

Housing Tasmania tenants do not directly pay costs of water and sewerage.
